Adrian Hires Kwan to take over Women's Volleyball

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College athletic department is pleased to announce the hiring of David Kwan as the new Head Volleyball Coach. Kwan will take over the responsibilities effective immediately.

"We are very excited to have David join the athletic department," said athletic director Mike Duffy. "David is someone that can lead our women's volleyball program back into contention in the MIAA. He will be aggressive in recruiting and also has years of experience as a head coach at the Division III level. I can't wait until next fall to see what the team can do."

Kwan comes to Adrian after a previous stint at Defiance College as the Head Volleyball Coach. In his nine years at Defiance, Kwan finished in the top 3 in the conference three times, including a 2nd place finish in 2008.

"I am very excited to join the Adrian College family with its rich tradition and resources," said Kwan. "A new era for Adrian College volleyball is beginning and I wanted to be a part of something big. The school has improved its facilities and campus life and it is an exciting place to bring potential student-athletes. I want to be a legitimate MIAA title contender and bring the program back to prominence."

For the past six years, Kwan has also coached several club volleyball teams and has been a camp instructor at many colleges and universities including Ohio State University, the University of Michigan, and Bowling Green State University.

Kwan is a 1999 graduate of York University in Toronto where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Sciences, graduating with Honors. Kwan also has a Masters of Kinesiology in Coaching that he received in 2001 from York.
