Franklin Fights Back in Fifth Set, Drops Earlham in Home Decision
FRANKLIN, Ind. (Sept. 14) – After watching visiting Earlham bounce back to force a fifth set, Franklin College took control and took the match in volleyball action in the Spurlock Center gym tonight.
The Grizzlies prevailed 25-21, 25-18, 11-25, 22-25, 15-10 to improve to 3-7. The Quakers dropped to 1-9 in the first of two meetings between the schools this fall. FC and Earlham will play their official Heartland Conference match Oct. 5 in Richmond, Ind.
Freshman outside hitter Taylor Parrish (Vandalia, Ind./H.S.) posted 15 kills and scored a pair of service aces. Sophomore setter Erin Fisher (Martinsville, Ind./H.S.) chalked up 13 kills, 19 set assists, 13 digs and two aces.
Also contributing were junior outside hitter Amanda Henthorne (Madison, Ind./H.S.) with 13 kills, freshman libero Caitlyn Farris (Zionsville, Ind./H.S.) wtih 26 digs and senior setter/defensive specialist Brooke Stamper (Brownsburg, Ind./Covenant Christian H.S.) had 18 assists and three service aces.
FC next will compete in the Stevens Institute of Technology tournament in Hoboken, N.J. on Friday and Saturday.
