St. Norbert Wins 2011 MWC Volleyball Tournament

DE PERE, Wis. – St. Norbert swept through the tournament
field and earned a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0
win over Lake Forest in the championship match of the 2011 Midwest
Conference Volleyball Tournament.
St. Norbert swept the Foresters 25-19, 25-15 and 25-16 on its
home court. The Green Knights were led by Danielle Remy who had 12
kills and a .385 hitting percentage only committing two errors on
the day. Catherine Guido had a game-high 18 digs while Breanne
Brocker (16), Lindsay Wiebe (11) and Mary Kate Manion (10) also had
double-figure digs. Abby West posted 31 assists to lead all
players.
Lake Forest’s Molly McCloskey had 12 kills and 11 digs
as the only player to post a double-double while teammate Tia
Rupnik (13 digs) was the only other Forester to have more than 10
digs. Tori Drasler and Torie Pasiewicz teamed up for 28 assists as
both had 14 each.
St. Norbert also one of three MWC Champions this season which
is its 11th in school history while winning the MWC Tournament
championship for fourth time.
With the victory the Green Knights earn the Midwest Conference
automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. St. Norbert will find out who
they will play early next week with times and dates to be
determined.
